Informativa sulla privacy
Ultimo aggiornamento: 27 settembre 2026
Dove finiscono questi dati.
- Supabase — database e autenticazione (server nell'UE, Francoforte).
- Vercel — hosting dell'app.
Conserviamo i dati dell'account finché l'account è attivo.
I tuoi diritti
Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 27, 2026
This is a courtesy translation. The Italian version prevails in case of discrepancy.
This policy describes how NEVE ("we"), accessible at neve.ski, processes your personal data when you use the app, in accordance with EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR).
Data controller. The controller is Raffaele Alicino, a private individual. NEVE is a personal, free and non-commercial project: it sells nothing and has no advertising or affiliate links. For any request, write to
whereis@neve.ski.
What data we collect
- Account: email address; if you sign in with Google, the name and profile picture provided by Google; a generated username.
- Profile: username, display name, and — only if you fill them in — profile picture, home resort, Instagram handle, bio and answers to the light-hearted quiz. All optional, all editable or removable at any time from the Profile sheet.
- In-app activity: condition reports you post (resort, snow status, queues, visibility, optional note, photo if you attach one, date/time), comments and reactions on other people's reports, favorites, powder alerts, preferred departure city, skiing mode.
- Blocks: if you block someone, we record who you blocked — only so we stop showing you their content. The list is visible to you alone: the blocked person receives no notification and cannot find out.
- Push notifications: if you enable them, the technical identifier of your browser/device subscription (revocable at any time).
- Email subscriptions: if you subscribe from the website (the Bulletin, or the alert when a ski area opens), your email address, language and the chosen ski area. The subscription only takes effect after you confirm it from the link we send you: without confirmation we don't write again. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Support: the messages you send us through the support chat.
- Purchases: none. NEVE is free, has no in-app purchases or subscriptions, and collects no payment data whatsoever.
- Minimal technical data: preferences and session saved in your device's local storage. We do not use profiling cookies or advertising tracking tools, and the app ships with no analytics SDK at all.
- Aggregate counts: we count, in aggregate and without knowing who does it, how many times a day a ski area's page is opened, the «Why» sheet is opened, «Open in maps» is tapped or the mode is changed, and how many sessions there are. The count is sent without your session, even when you are signed in, and all that is stored is the day, the name of the event and, when there is one, the ski area: no identifier of you, your account or your device, and no IP address. The time between opening the app and «Open in maps» is computed on the phone and arrives only as a contribution to a daily average. We do not know what you look at, how long you stay or where you came from.
- End-of-day opinion: if you answer «Did NEVE get it right?» after a recorded day, the phone sends the ski area, the mode, your answers (a rating, and optionally snow, visibility and wind), the session length rounded to the quarter hour and the coordinates of the departure city you chose in NEVE (never your location). The server recomputes that day's Match and Index on its own, with the snow and weather data that produced them, and stores those numbers with your answers and the estimated travel hours: the departure city is not kept. It is sent without your session and without any identifier: we do not know who answered. It is used only to see when the Match gets it right.
Recording your ski day (tracking)
If you start recording a day in the iPhone app, NEVE uses the phone's sensors to measure your skiing. This feature is always opt-in: it starts only when you tap "Start tracking" and stops with "End".
- Location (GPS): collected only during an active recording, including with the screen locked or the app in the background — so you can keep the phone in your pocket while skiing. While this happens, iOS shows the blue location indicator. It is used to compute vertical, distance, speed and runs.
- Barometer and accelerometer: atmospheric pressure (metre-precise vertical) and acceleration (G-force in turns).
- Heart rate: only if you use the Apple Watch app and grant permission, we read heart rate from Apple Health during the session and record the workout there. We do not read any other health data.
Where this data goes. The detailed GPS track never leaves your phone: it stays in local device storage to show you the charts and the trace on the 3D model. If you have an account, we store on our server only the day totals (resort, date, vertical, runs, distance, duration, top speed). You can delete a day from your logbook at any time.
HealthKit. The health data we read and write goes through Apple HealthKit and stays on your device and in your Health account. We never use it for advertising or profiling, never sell it, never share it with third parties, and use it for nothing other than recording and showing you your own ski day.
We do not use your location for advertising, we do not sell it and we do not share it with third parties. You can revoke location, motion or Health permissions at any time in iOS settings: recording will stop working, the rest of the app will not.
Photos
If you attach a photo to a report or a story, we access only the photo you pick (never your whole library). Report photos are public in the community; stories are created on your phone and shared only if you choose to.
Why we process it and on what basis
- Providing the service: account, personalized ranking, community reports, support — legal basis: performance of the requested service.
- Sending sign-in emails (login links) — legal basis: performance of the service.
- Sending push notifications (e.g. fresh snow alerts) — legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw.
- Moderating content and preventing abuse — legal basis: legitimate interest in a safe service.
Providers that process data for us
We rely on trusted providers acting as data processors:
- Supabase — database and authentication (servers in the EU, Frankfurt).
- Resend — sending sign-in emails.
- Google — "Continue with Google" sign-in (only if you use it).
- Vercel — app hosting.
For weather, snow, webcam and avalanche conditions we use external sources (Open-Meteo, Open Data Hub South Tyrol, OpenStreetMap, Windy, AINEVA/EAWS) to which we do not transmit your personal data. Some providers may process data outside the EU (e.g. the United States): in such cases we rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep account data for as long as the account is active. You can request its deletion at any time: your personal data will be erased (reports may be anonymized if useful to the community).
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, and to object to processing. To exercise these rights, write to whereis@neve.ski. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (garanteprivacy.it).
Minors
NEVE is not intended for children under 14 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; the current version is always available on this page together with the update date.
